The presentation of last week’s 2016 Premios Memoriales de Gastronomía Awards saw these prestigious annual recognitions by the Real Academia de Gastronomía (Spanish Royal Academy of Gastronomy) and the Cofradía de la Buena Mesa (Brotherhood of the ‘Good Table’) go to seven people and one restaurant chain for their contributions to the world of gastronomy.

Among the honorees this year was Madrid-based chef Ramón Freixa of two-Michelin star restaurant Ramón Freixa Madrid, one of the capital city’s go-to gastronomic meccas for several years now.

In addition to this flagship establishment in Madrid and others in Spain, this Catalan chef – who won the “Marques De Busianos” award for the International Presence of Spanish Gastronomy at the Premios Memoriales de Gastronomía – has also expanded his culinary reaches to different corners of the globe.
