Nacho Manzano, Ricard Camarena, Ferran Adrià, Joan Roca, Ángel León… What do all these people have in common?

Sure, they’re all top-tier Spanish chefs who together represent about a dozen Michelin stars, but they are also the authors of acclaimed cookbooks compiling their achievements in Spanish cuisine and offering insights into this country’s excellent products and gastronomy.

However, one doesn’t have to be a Michelin-star chef to write a great cookbook (or series of cookbooks) on Spanish gastronomy. In fact, there are quite a few prolific Spanish cookbook writers who hail from outside Spanish borders. What they share is a love of Spanish culture and cuisine, and a knack for telling its stories and recipes.

So the next time you’re on the hunt for a new Spanish cookbook, pay attention to the names of authors like Janet Mendel, Richard Cornish and Paul Richardson, among so many others.
