One of the articles featured on the current home page of Foods and Wines from Spain tells the story of Grupo Ganaderos de Fuerteventura S.L., a company that has made a name for itself both in Spain and abroad as producers of Maxorata, a brand of top-quality PDO Queso Majorero, a traditional goat’s cheese from the Canary Island of Fuerteventura that was the first type of goat’s cheese in Spain to obtain Protected Denomination of Origin status.

Made from the milk of the island’s native Majorero goats, this cheese, “has a creamy texture and a flavor that is toasted and slightly sweet with caramel notes”, says Esteban Alberto Pérez, the general manager of Grupo Ganaderos de Fuerteventura.

Regardless of whether you sample Spanish Majorero cheese on its own, or as part of a simple tapa like this Majorero cheese, Spanish olive oil and caper canapé, this fantastic goat’s cheese is sure to be a palate pleaser for cheese lovers everywhere.
