I feasted on a delicious home-cooked meal last night, accompanied by a delicious bottle of Mencía wine from Spanish wine region DO Ribeira Sacra, in Galicia.

This gorgeous, lush and historic Spanish wine region is nestled between the Miño and Sil River valleys. Here, native Spanish grape varieties like the noble red varieties Mencía, Brancellao, Merenzao, Caiño, Sousón and Tempranillo; and white varieties Albariño, Godello, Doña Blanca, Torrontés and Treixadura, mingle together in top-notch varietal whites and robust, aromatic reds.

With just under one-hundred wineries, this compact region combines traditional, artisanal wine making techniques, with overwhelmingly organic growing techniques and new investments and innovations.
