Rosés are Reds (well, not exactly)

It’s always a treat when a much enjoyed wine region surprises you, and particularly so when the surprise comes in the form of tasty and eye-opening red wines that can hold their own against those of the area’s famed red wine producing neighbors (think DO Ribera del Duero).

This seems to be the case with another of Castile-León’s wine denominations, DO Cigales. Typically known for its refreshing and fruity rosado wines, this area is making a case for itself with its quality red wines, which are frequently made with star Spanish grape variety Tempranillo.

And while we’re on the subject, I plan on making a case for myself to take home and enjoy the next time I’m in DO Cigales!
