I first visited La Rioja in the fall many years ago and I will never forget the gorgeous colors of the turning leaves, the crisp blue skies and the tantalizing smell of roasting red peppers and other delights that filled the air.

These things alone would be reason enough to justify a jaunty getaway to the region’s capital city of Logroño (this weekend perhaps?), but there are plenty of other reasons to visit this historic city, including, of course, its wonderful food and world-famous wines.

As Foods and Wines from Spain‘s Rodrigo García relates in his article Logroño, Flavors Galore: Foodie Weekend Among Vineyards, there is more than enough to see and do in this Spanish city, including savoring a wealth of excellent gastronomy, to keep your palate working overtime (while the rest of you sits back, relaxes and enjoys the weekend).

Happy travels!
