Spanish chef Nacho Manzano seems to be on the tip of everyone’s tongue these days, and it’s not hard to see why. Not only does this Asturian chef hold two Michelin Stars and two Repsol Suns for his family’s Casa Marcial restaurant, but he also shares another Michelin Star with his sister Esther Manzano for their La Salgar restaurant in Gijón, Asturias; and opened Gloria in Oviedo last year, a restaurant that pays homage to his grandmother’s traditional Asturian cuisine.
And of course these things only cover this Spanish chef’s culinary endeavors inside Spanish borders. The recent opening of another branch of his Ibérica Restaurants (in August near London’s Victoria Station), brings his total number of establishments in the UK to six, helping to make Manzano one of the most influential Spanish chefs in Great Britain today.
As if all this weren’t enough, Manzano was just named the president of the jury for the Concurso de Pinchos y Tapas Ciudad de Valladolid (City of Valladolid National Pinchos and Tapas Competition) and the Concurso Internacional de Escuelas de Cocina (International Tapas Competition), which will be held in Valladolid from November 9-11th, 2015. The latter of these is for none other than the participants in the current edition of the ICEX Training Program in Spanish Gastronomy.
