‘Tis the season of international film festivals and, while we’re on the subject, I thought this would be the ideal time to remind everyone that the San Sebastian International Film Festival is going on this week in that northern Spanish city.
This iconic Spanish festival, which is now in its 63rd year, draws film buffs and professionals from all over the world, as well as some of the most famous . . . chefs!
Yes! You heard me right! Chefs! For the 5th consecutive year the San Sebastian Film Festival is hosting its culinary offshoot, “Culinary Zinema: Cine y Gastronomía”, which was created in collaboration with the Berlin International Film Festival and the Basque Culinary Center to unite film, gastronomy, and other food related activities having to do with the fields of education, agriculture and science.
This year’s edition of Culinary Zinema includes seventeen films, several of which are dedicated to providing an inside look at the past, present and future of some of the most important restaurants in the world, including El Celler de Can Roca and Mugaritz.
Additionally, some of these films are being accompanied by dinners prepared by the same top-notch chefs featured in the films! Food, film and festivals! What could be better!
