The twelve international chefs participating in this year’s edition of the ICEX Training Program in Spanish Gastronomy arrived in Spain this week, ready and eager to start this prestigious six-month culinary program.
The chef’s first home in Spain is Valladolid (Castile-Leon), where they will spend a total of six weeks taking classes and attending seminars at the International School of Culinary Arts Fernando Pérez (EIC), interspersed with trips to visit important producers in Castile-Leon and Galicia.
While in Valladolid the young chefs will also work at local restaurants, where – in addition to gaining culinary experience – they will undoubtedly also hone their Spanish language skills and put to good use the online language lessons that they’ve been taking through the Instituto Cervantes in their home countries prior to their arrival in Spain.
These twelve chefs are participating in the eighth edition of this highly respected program, which will later see them spend three months working in some of this country’s top restaurants.
This year’s group represents nine countries, namely, Canada, China, Denmark, Ireland, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
