The recent celebration of prestigious world olive oil event EXPOLIVA last week in Jaén, has once again turned the spotlight onto this olive producing region in Andalusia, which is responsible for around half of all Spanish olive oil production.

But though more than 80% of Jaén’s agriculture is dedicated to the olive industry, a fact that in turn leads to stunning landscapes of olive groves as far as the eye can see, this region is also rich with culture and tradition, some of which can be found in the breathtakingly beautiful and historic towns of Úbeda and Baeza, both of which have been declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

For the best way to get the first-hand experience of gazing at Jaén’s endless olive tree plantations, tasting its incredible olive oils, and basking in the beauty, history, tradition and gastronomy of this region, check out the article Driving through Olive Groves: Jaén, Land of Liquid Gold on Foods and Wines from Spain.
