Sardine fishing in Spain is one of the oldest and most traditional type of fishing activities in this country, made possible by the abundance of this type of fish off the Spanish coasts.

Devoured fresh, canned or preserved in any number of different ways (as they have been for centuries in Spain), these smallish members of the blue fish family are both healthy and delicious, and not to mention incredible versatile as they are good in any number of tapas or entrees, thanks to their ability to combine well with a bevy of different flavors ranging from salty to sweet.

Try these two very different recipes on Foods and Wines from Spain using Spanish sardines, and you won’t be disappointed:

Have a good weekend!
