There is so much going on in the world of sports right now that it’s hard to know where to look first.
Between the World Cup, last week’s Royal Ascot and now the beginning of Wimbledon (from June 23rd until July 6th), it’s suffice to say that we have enough sporting entertainment to last us for a while.
As we get ready for the Spanish team to play Australia tonight at the World Cup, we can also prepare for today, the first day of Wimbledon, with a trip to the local market to buy some delicious Spanish strawberries.
Nearly 30,000 kilos of strawberries – the official fruit of Wimbledon – are eaten during this prestigious event every year. These delicious berries, many of which are imported from Spain (the world’s number one exporter), are devoured by fans with approximately 7,000 liters of cream.
And while you’re at it, strawberries also go great with La Roja (the Spanish soccer team)!
Let’s cheer them on today as they make their final appearance at the 2014 Brazil World Cup.
