Spain is in mourning this week after the shocking and untimely death of Madrid chef Darío Barrio (Madrid, 1972), who died in a tragic accident this past Friday in Andalusia while base jumping at the El Yelmo International Air Festival.
Although I never had the privilege of meeting him personally, Barrio was a fixture on the Madrid culinary scene, and an all-around affable and incredibly well-liked and dedicated chef.
In fact just a couple of weeks ago, Foods from Spain published this news item about the chef’s current collaboration with the Casa Decor interior design and architecture exposition, and the fact that his Madrid restaurant, dASSA bASSa is celebrating its ten-year anniversary this year.
Our condolences go out to his friends and family. He will be sorely missed.
