There has been big news as of late in the Spanish olive oil industry.

For one, Spanish olive oil production is up 158% this season (2013/2014), with record production levels of over 1.5 million tons of olive oil. And if that weren’t enough, this season has also racked up record olive oil sales of more than 500,000 tons of oil, which translates to a 30% increase with regard to the 2012/2013 season.

But Spanish olive oil isn’t just about recent news. In fact, this historic product arrived to the southern part of the Iberian Peninsula around 1100 BC.
