Tomorrow is International Women’s Day, and what better excuse is there to celebrate women all over the world?
Originally called International Working Women’s Day, this annual March 8th celebration began in Russia and Eastern Europe as a tribute to women’s economic, political and social achievements. These early political connotations carried over to the recognition of this day by the United Nations as an event that focuses on the political and social challenges faced by women all over the world. Notwithstanding, in other places, International Women’s Day has lost its early political ties and is merely a celebration of love for women and their accomplishments.
Whatever your personal take on International Women’s Day, it is definitely a good reason to lift a glass full of delicious, crisp and sparkling Spanish Cava and toast women all over the world!
