San Sebastian Gastronomika kicks off today and I confess that I’m particularly excited for this occasion as this will be my first time attending this annual culinary conference.

Started fifteen years ago in this Basque city, San Sebastian Gastronomika has grown steadily every since, bringing together a list of some of the most famous names in the cooking world from both Spain and abroad.

This year’s edition of this haute cuisine event promises to do the same, with a roster of names that includes famous Spanish chefs such as Quique Dacosta, Alberto Chicote, Eneko Atxa, Josean Alija, Juan Mari and Elena Arzak, Martín Berasategui, Nuno Mendes, Joan Roca, Mario Sandoval, Pedro Subijana, Ricardo Sanz, Ángel León and Andoni Luis Aduriz, among others; as well as a long list of international chefs from all over the globe, including Heston Blumenthal, Hamish Brown, Gastón Acurio, Mikael Jonsson, Corey Lee, Jonny Lake and James Knapett… to name just a few.

Additionally, this year’s guest city will be London, featuring both renowned British chefs such as the aforementioned Blumenthal, and Spanish chefs like José Pizarro, and others, who make their home there.
